Quilt art, sometimes known as art quilting, is an art form that uses traditional quilting techniques to create art objects. Practitioners of quilt art create it based on their experiences, imagery, and ideas rather than traditional patterns. I would suggest starting with the traditional piecing methods. After you learn the "right" way to do it, you can experiment with what works for you. Jinny Beyer is a well known hand quilter and she has several books available. Her "Quiltmaking by Hand" is an excellent instruction book, and you can purchase a companion interactive CD so you can actually see her do what she's explaining in the book. Alex Anderson also has some books that might be helpful. Q. Whne i was in 9th grade our art club made a hand made quilt to donate to soldiers. Now that i am a senior i would like to do this again with the art club. Is there a specific organization i could talk to about donating the quilts?
